Beginning with the scheduled due dates, our systems begins generating immediate letters and continues until the last of a series of 5 have been sent. One week after the 5th has been sent the account is then transferred to our legal unit which seeks formal legal collections where necessary as well as notification to the primary credit bureaus.
Many of our competitors take a position that after 2-3 months of collections attempts, that is makes more sense to turn the accounts back to the schools. They further try to explain that the school needs to worry about its image and taking any collection action could hurt the school. At SMSWinmars, we believe that they could not be more wrong!
